Climbing Elbrus from the south - 9-days tour

Восхождение с юга Climbing Elbrus from the south in 9 days is an optimal tour in terms of which you manage to get the necessary acclimatization and, in the literal sense, of the word «without a headache», transfer the transfer from the hotel to the assault shelter «Heart of Elbrus».

Route program:

Day 1. Meeting at the airport of Mineralnye Vody by our representative at 14.00. With a much earlier or late arrival it is possible to organize an individual transfer (estimated cost for a group of up to 3 people is 3000 rubles). At 14.30 our transport goes to the foot of Elbrus: to the Cheget glade, located at an altitude of about 2000 meters above sea level. The distance is 180 km, travel time is about 3 hours. Check in the hotel Snow Leopard, acquaintance with the guide.

For group members starting the tour on Saturdays - acclimatization exit to the station Cheget-2 (2700 m). After the descent - the selection and rental of the missing mountain equipment at the rental point. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 7. Day of ascent. Early rise and light breakfast.

When ordering a snowcat (snow tractor) for climbing from a shelter (3800 m) to Pastukhov Rocks (4800 m) or before the beginning of the Slanting Shelf (5100 m) - exit about 4 o'clock in the morning. Renting a ratrak with a capacity of 12 people (including 3 guides who accompany the group without participating in paying for the ratrak) allows you to save 3-4 hours of walking and weight, costs 45000-70000 rubles for lifting up to 4800-5100 m (the height depends on the condition slope).

At the request of the group members (in an amount of at least 3 people) it is possible to refuse to use the ratrak and at no additional charge to attempt an ascent with one or several guide assistants (the so-called "second guides") in the standard ratio of 1 guide to 3 customers. Exit on the route of participants on foot climb in this case is carried out 3-4 hours earlier than the main group.

At the same time, participants of the ascent should realize that in case of bad state of health or other reasons for refusal to continue climbing by one of the participants, the remaining 1-2 clients assigned to this guide must also make a descent as part of their mini-group. In the case of forced descent from low altitudes (up to 4500 m), a second attempt at climbing the same day is possible only if you descend into the upper hut before the main group leaves or, on a later descent, subject to ordering a ratrak with the aim of joining the rest of the group under the leadership of the main guide to the stage of passing the oblique shelf.

If there are less than 3 people who want to climb without using a snowcat, it is necessary to use the services of an individual guide, for an additional fee.

At the summit (5642 m) they usually leave at 10–13 o'clock in the afternoon, depending on the rate of the group's ascent. From 14 o'clock movement of all group members is carried out only down. After the ascent - descend to the upper shelter (5-6 hours), dinner and overnight.

Day 8. Reserve day in case of bad weather on the previous day.

When making a successful attempt to climb the previous day - descend to Terskol. Finally, you can wash, change clothes and enjoy dishes of Caucasian cuisine, tasting xychins, heat-baur, shish kebab!
